Job Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic and caring Camp Counselors to create a positive and engaging environment for children at our summer camp(s). The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising campers, leading activities, and ensuring a safe, fun, and educational experience. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about working with children and fostering their development through various recreational and educational activities.
Duties
- Act as a role model and represent the OMAC Martial Arts in a positive manner.
- Supervise and monitor children during all camp activities, ensuring safety at all times
- Lead and facilitate a variety of recreational, arts, sports, and educational activities tailored to different age groups
- Assist with planning daily schedules and special events to promote engagement and learning
- Provide guidance, support, and positive reinforcement to campers to encourage social skills and teamwork
- Enforce camp rules and policies to maintain a respectful and safe environment
- Support campers with personal needs as required, fostering an inclusive atmosphere
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to ensure smooth operation of camp programs
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding camper progress or concerns
Skills
- Approved police record check (with vulnerable sector check)
- Strong programming, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Highly motivated and willing to take initiative while functioning in a team environment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- Successful candidates must dedicate themselves to this role for up to 10 weeks of programming.
