Our Ottawa office is actively seeking a Bridges Engineering Coop Student. Our group provides consulting services for Preliminary Design and Detail Design projects for public sector clients, including the Ministry of Transportation Ontario and several Ontario Municipalities.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Bridges Engineering Co-op Student in our Ottawa Bridges team, you will be involved in the planning and design of provincial highways, interchanges, and local municipal roads and assisting our structural engineering group with the inspection and design of bridges and structures. You will be responsible for assisting in the following areas:
- Assist in bridge inspections and completion of associated reporting;
- Support preparation of engineering drawings and plans using industry standard drafting principles;
- Support preliminary design and detail design of bridge improvement projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- You are a self-motivated individual possessing strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy, and you work well in a team environment.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Some working knowledge of transportation engineering related software such as AutoCad/Civil 3D/Inroads/OpenRoads is desirable.
Education and Experience
- As the ideal candidate you are an independent worker who is working towards a post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering
- Similar summer work-term or co-op experience would be considered as a definite asset for this position.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
