Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools covers a geographical area that includes the regional communities of Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Spirit River. We are a team of 600 staff who provide quality teaching and learning experiences for approximately 5400 students.
Position Overview
The
job is responsible for diagnosing and treating students with a variety of
delays as they gain, re-gain or maintain an optimum level of functioning in the
Educational setting. As part of a multi-disciplinary team of specialists, and
under the direction of the Director of Inclusive Education, the OT provides
expertise and develops plans in support of students requiring interventions.
Areas of Responsibility
include:
consult, treat, follow up, and coordinate services for students so they can
participate in everyday activities.
Provide
training and education to teachers & support staff, and at times parents.
Work
collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team
Implement
Division procedures as required
Other
duties as assigned by the Director of
Inclusive Education

- Able to establish rapport with students who present with physical, emotional and learning disabilities who come from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds

Knowledge of behavior management and positive reinforcement and the ability to utilize behavior management techniques according to established guidelines
