Full Time Ophthalmic Assistant
A fast-paced surgical eye specialist is seeking an organized, enthusiastic and tech-savvy individual for the position of Ophthalmic Assistant. This position is available immediately and is permanent full-time. (Upon completion of a 6-month probationary period)
The Ophthalmic Assistant position’s responsibilities include:
- Greeting patients, staff and visitors in a friendly, professional and courteous manner.
- Performing preliminary charting/testing before the patient is seen by the physician.
- Using an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to manage all patient files.
- On the job training will be provided on various ophthalmic medical equipment and the technician must be comfortable with hands-on patient care.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Successful completion of a college diploma such as personal care worker/PSW or previous experience in a patient care role. (Ophthalmic experience is considered an asset)
- Excellent written communication skills including spelling, grammar and formatting.
- Strong work ethic, team player, positive client focused attitude and professionalism.
- Excellent time-management, organizational and self-planning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions, exercise good judgment, discretion and initiative when dealing with confidential information and/or in responding to inquiries.
- Demonstrate satisfactory work performance and attendance history.
- An interest in direct patient care.
- Experience with electronic medical records. (EMR)
