POSITION SUMMARY
This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated individual to work with the Rapid Response Northern School Team (RRNST) to support First Nations youth in grades K-12. The RRNST is mobilized rapidly to respond to urgent and non-urgent requests from local and remote First Nation community schools to deliver programs and support during or following community crisis. This non-direct service position provides a blend of mentorship, academic support, and mental health and wellness support. The Team Member acts as a mentor, connector, advisor, and advocate for students. The role includes individual and group intervention, mental health promotion, crisis intervention, and attendance support to improve the overall social and emotional well-being of school staff and students.
QUALIFICATIONS
College diploma in counselling, mental health, or community services required; university degree in a related field preferred. Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers or Social Service Workers preferred. Minimum 1 year experience in counselling or mental health; experience with children and youth preferred. Training in trauma, restorative practices, and/or ASIST (or willingness to obtain). Valid driver’s license and ability to travel. This position will require a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) at the employee’s expense
