Position Details: Full Time Permanent, New Position
Starting Salary: $119,300 based on a 35-hour work week and commensurate with individual education and experience, as it relates to the position.
Location: Remote or Hybrid at any DUC office across Canada

What You Will Do
Reporting to the National Director of Development, the National Manager of Development is responsible for leading the growth, development, and successful execution of a comprehensive fundraising team including membership, midlevel, major gifts and planned giving programs – building a pipeline of donors with the ultimate goal of cultivating long term, major gift and planned giving relationships. A critical function of this role is the ability to build and manage high-performing, high-functioning remote teams based on collaboration and trust.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop metrics, goal setting and reporting monthly activity of the development team.
- Lead the development and planned giving teams in the implementation and reporting back on a comprehensive, donor-centric fund development plan in support of our conservation mission.
- Work to strengthen and grow a dynamic team that understands the importance and urgency of collaboration, teamwork, and communication in reaching financial goals.
- Provide effective remote leadership to a diverse, high‑performing fundraising team across membership, mid‑level, major gifts, and planned giving, ensuring strong collaboration and a healthy donor pipeline that supports long‑term major and planned giving growth.
- Utilize philanthropic and leadership expertise to be a corporate resource, mentor, counsel to all staff across all business units with respect to fund development and relationship building.
- Lead the execution of a comprehensive development portfolio.
- Work closely with the National Manager of Development Operations to ensure DUC recognizes and retains current and future donors to help DUC achieve its conservation mission.
- Work closely with the National Director of Development, the National Manager of Volunteer Fundraising as well as Sustainability, Finance, Conservation and Marketing/Communications to grow annual fundraising revenue.
- Develop and share knowledge of philanthropic trends, competitive initiatives, and industry best practices.
- Prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress to the senior leadership team and board/cabinet members.
- Develop and manage annual operations budget for the development and planned giving portfolio.
Requirements
- Diploma in business, marketing, fundraising or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in fund development and stewardship, with an impressive history of personal achievements in fundraising, as well as using CRM technology.
- At least 5 years of experience managing a team with a proven ability to motivate, develop, mentor and empower employees and peers.
- Previous experience in relationship development and management with donors at a national level.
- Experience and vision to expand the organization’s financial base of individual and corporate contributors through all giving vehicles and initiatives
- Candidates with a post graduate fundraising credential or CFRE designation will be given preference.
- Strong foundation in professional fundraising practices, including major gifts, planned giving, donor pipeline development, and donor stewardship.
- Ability to present and conceive a compelling case-for-support based on donor needs and organizational goals.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and cross‑functional collaboration skills, with the ability to interpret fundraising data and align team efforts with organizational priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment including identifying opportunities and risks and determining donor-centric solutions.
- Some travel, as well as evening/weekend work, will be required.
- Bilingualism in English and French is a strong asset.
