Responsibilities
- Own reliable transportation to get to and from jobsite
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code - Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to ensure precise execution of deck and landscape projects
- Operate hand tools, power tools, post hole auger and other landscaping machinery safely and efficiently during construction and landscaping tasks
- Construct decks using carpentry techniques, including framing, decking, railing installation, and concrete forming as per building code
- Install various landscape features such as patios, walkways, retaining walls, fencing, covered porches, pergolas, screened in porches and other custom outdoor structures
- Conduct restoration work on existing outdoor spaces by repairing or replacing damaged elements and replacing new
- Utilize construction materials and timelines for efficient project management
- Ensure all work complies with or exceeds all safety standards, meets Ontario Building Code standards and overall quality expectations while maintaining a clean work environment
Skills
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Proficiency in reading blueprints and construction drawings (as need)
- Experienced background in construction with knowledge of carpentry, knowledge of stair building, custom deck and railing building
- Knowledge to build custom decks with pressure treated, cedar lumber or composite materials, aluminum and custom railings, build pergolas, covered and screened in porch builds and more out door back yard structures
- Experience in safely operating carpentry power tools and hand tools
- Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment IE post hole auger, mini skid steer for material transporting, mini ex for excavation or dump trailer for material transport purposes (if/ as need)
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team (team lead if need ) in various outdoor environments under different weather conditions
- Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to come up with solutions to problems if arise and adapt plans if needed during project execution
