Make an impact at the enterprise level. As a Corporate Strategist, you will support senior leaders to make informed decisions, align priorities, and translate strategy into coordinated action and results for Calgarians.
This role sits at the intersection of strategy, governance, and enterprise execution. You will help shape how The City prioritizes, aligns resources, and delivers value in a complex, high-impact environment. The Corporate Strategist role has a broad enterprise strategy mandate that may include strategic planning, issue analysis, advisory support, governance, portfolio coordination, implementation planning, and project delivery.
Working within the Corporate Strategy team, you provide strategic advice, analysis, project coordination, and decision support to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and senior leaders. The Corporate Strategist helps connect strategy to action by supporting priority setting, aligning work across departments, coordinating strategic initiatives, and providing insight that enables informed decision-making and measurable progress on corporate priorities. Primary duties across the two positions include:

Support implementation of the Corporate Strategic Plan by connecting long-term strategic direction with practical execution across departments.

Provide analysis, insight, and decision-ready advice to senior leadership on complex corporate issues and trade-offs.

Contribute to strategy governance & stewardship, portfolio prioritization, enterprise alignment, and start/stop/accelerate decisions.

Develop briefings, reports, and materials that support governance, strategic discussions, and informed decision-making.

Coordinate strategic initiatives and work packages, including project plans, timelines, dependencies, risks, and deliverables.

Provide corporate strategy subject-matter expertise on strategic planning, Council priority stewardship, governance practices, and performance alignment.

Help connect strategy to planning, budgeting, implementation, and performance reporting.

Build alignment across departments and functions through collaboration, facilitation, and influence.
