Job Summary
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and compliant fueling operations of CN trains at the Hornepayne terminal. This hands-on leadership role is accountable for managing day-to-day rail fueling activities, supervising personnel, ensuring equipment reliability, maintaining high customer service standards, and ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and transportation regulations.
As the site leader, the Operations Supervisor will coordinate train fueling schedules to meet CN's operational requirements, manage fuel inventory, oversee equipment and facility maintenance, and respond to operational issues as they arise. The successful candidate will be mechanically inclined, capable of troubleshooting trucks, fueling equipment, and operational challenges, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
This position serves as the primary liaison between the terminal operations team and CN, ensuring fueling services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer expectations and service-level commitments. The Operations Supervisor will build and maintain strong working relationships with CN personnel to support seamless operations and resolve issues proactively.
This position requires the successful candidate to be based in Hornepayne, Ontario, and serve as the primary on-call contact for the terminal, responding to operational issues, customer needs, equipment failures, and emergencies outside of regular business hours as required.
What We Require of You
· Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Hornepayne, Ontario.
· Must possess a clean criminal record and be eligible to obtain and maintain eRailSafe certification and any required railway security clearances for access to customer rail facilities.
· Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in rail, transportation, petroleum, industrial, logistics, or related operations.
· Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot fueling equipment, trucks, pumps, hoses, and operational systems.
· Experience with locomotive fueling, fuel handling, terminal operations, rail operations, or bulk fuel delivery is considered a strong asset.
· Valid and clean DZ /AZ commercial Licence is required.
· Experience managing employees in a safety-sensitive environment, including training, coaching, and performance management.
· Responsible for overseeing daily locomotive fueling operations, coordinating fueling schedules, monitoring fuel inventory, and ensuring customer service commitments are met.
· Ensure fueling equipment, terminal infrastructure, and site operations are maintained safely and efficiently, coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance as required.
· Ability to investigate and resolve operational issues, customer concerns, equipment failures, and service disruptions.
· Vendor management and fleet maintenance experience are considered assets.
· Strong leadership, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
· Must be available to act as the primary on-call contact for the Hornepayne operation, responding to operational issues and emergencies outside of regular business hours.
· Strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.
