Job Overview: The Grill Cook is responsible for preparing grilled and cooked menu items with precision, consistency, and speed. This role works in a busy kitchen environment where teamwork, timing, and attention to detail are essential. Role and responsibilities:
· Grill and cook proteins, vegetables, and other menu items according to the Restaurant’s recipes and food safety guidelines.
- Ensure grilled items are cooked to the correct temperature, portion, and presentation standards
- Coordinate with other kitchen team members to ensure all dishes for a table are ready simultaneously
- Monitor and maintain grill equipment, including cleaning, turning off when not in use, and reporting any issues to the Kitchen Manager
- Handle, store, and rotate all ingredients properly to maintain freshness and safety
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning workstations, utensils, and grills
- Assist with general cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and taking garbage and recycling out
- Perform other kitchen tasks and duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager
- Inform the Kitchen Manager of inventory shortages, equipment issues, or situations that might violate restaurant policies or safety procedures
- You will follow instructions and perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
· Previous experience cooking on a grill in a high-volume kitchen is preferred
- Food Handler Certification.
- Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
- Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
- Energetic, responsible, accountable, and committed to creating an excellent guest experience
- Ability to remain calm and motivated in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of sanitation practices within the kitchen and dining areas is important.
- Ability to speak English, French and/or Spanish is an asset.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
· Standing and walking for entire shifts
· Frequently bending and moving around for long periods of time
· Commonly lifting and moving up to 50 lbs.
· Fast paced kitchen environment around hot appliances and open flames.
· Ability to tolerate high-temperature conditions in the kitchen
· Constantly interacting with guests and team members
· Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
