Marine Cook – Factory Freezer Trawler
Fame Fisheries Limited is currently seeking qualified candidates for Marine Cook positions onboard our factory trawler, M/V Newfound Pioneer operating out of St. John’s, NL.
The Marine Cook is responsible for the preparation of meals for a crew of approximately 25 and for maintaining an efficient, clean, and well-organized galley operation throughout the voyage.
Minimum Qualifications
- Certification or recognized training in commercial or marine cooking
- Valid Transport Canada Seafarer Medical
- Valid passport
- Minimum two years of experience cooking onboard offshore or commercial vessels
- Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation
- Experience onboard large fishing vessels is considered an asset
Responsibilities
The Marine Cook’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and serving meals for the vessel’s crew
- Ordering provisions, galley supplies, and cleaning supplies
- Managing food inventory and proper storage of provisions
- Maintaining the galley and food-storage areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition
- Ensuring proper food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
Vessel Details
M/V Newfound Pioneer is a Canadian twin-rig high-capacity factory stern trawler, IMO No. 9228928. The vessel is 3,207 GT, has an overall length of 75.8 m, built in 2001 at P. Freire Shipyard in Vigo, Spain. She is powered by a Wärtsilä 12V32 main engine rated at 4,860 kW, is DNV classed, E0, hull Ice 1A* and is fully equipped with an onboard processing and freezing factory. The vessel operates with a crew of approximately 25.
Rotation and Benefits
The position operates on a rotation of approximately two trips onboard followed by two trips off, with some flexibility depending on vessel operations.
