About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mold Designer to join a well-established and growing tooling and manufacturing organization in Windsor, Ontario. This role is ideal for a highly skilled designer with strong experience in mold design and advanced proficiency with Unigraphics (NX).
The successful candidate will play a key role in the complete design process, collaborating with project managers, engineers, and customers to develop innovative tooling solutions while ensuring projects are delivered accurately and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain accurate mold design documentation and job history records.
- Develop advanced surfaces and part models using Unigraphics (NX).
- Prepare feasibility studies and present design solutions to internal teams and customers.
- Conduct and implement Engineering Work Order (EWO) design changes.
- Resolve technical design challenges and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead and participate in design reviews.
- Mentor and coach junior designers while helping maintain quality standards across the design team.
- Evaluate buildability, manufacturability, and integration alongside engineering and project management teams.
- Communicate project status, timelines, and potential risks proactively.
- Support the establishment and achievement of project completion schedules.
Qualifications Required:
- Minimum 5 years of experience using Unigraphics (NX).
- Previous experience as a Mold Designer.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical solutions to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and data management abilities.
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred:
- Diploma or post-secondary education in CAD/CAM, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Design, or a related field.
- Experience mentoring or leading other designers.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving industry technologies.
