CIVIL SUPERINTENDENT — EXCAVATIONS
Calgary, AB | $140,000 - $180,000 | Permanent, Full-Time

Our client is a well-established civil contractor in Calgary looking for a Civil Superintendent who can own a high-volume operation. This is a senior leadership role overseeing 15 concurrent projects ranging $1M-$2M per month — water & sewer, excavation, earthworks, and demolition across Calgary.

ABOUT OUR CLIENT
A respected and growing civil contractor based in Southern Alberta with a strong pipeline of municipal and private sector work. Known for a hands-on culture, experienced field teams, and a consistent workload that keeps people busy year-round.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee 15 concurrent civil construction projects simultaneously across Calgary
- Lead and coordinate foremen, crews, subcontractors, and equipment across multiple active sites
- Manage project schedules, production targets, and resource allocation across the portfolio
- Ensure all work is delivered safely, on time, and to specification
- Interface with municipal inspectors, consultants, and clients across multiple projects
- Conduct site meetings, safety planning, and daily operational reviews
- Monitor costs, productivity, and quality across all sites
- Mentor and develop foremen and field leadership
- Ensure full compliance with Alberta OHS legislation and company safety standards
- Complete reporting, documentation, and progress updates for senior leadership
WHAT YOU BRING
- 8+ years in civil construction with at least 3-5 years in a Superintendent role
- Strong background in excavation, water & sewer, earthworks, and/or demolition
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and crews simultaneously — this is not a single-site role
- Experience working with municipal infrastructure clients preferred
- Solid understanding of civil drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- NCSO or equivalent safety certification preferred
- OFA Level 1+, Confined Space, Traffic Control — current certifications an asset
- Valid driver's licence; ability to travel between Calgary project sites daily
- Strong communicator — comfortable managing up, down, and sideways across a busy operation

- $140,000 - $180,000 base salary depending on experience
