JOB PURPOSE
Develops, implements, co-ordinates and monitors all aspects of the SANE/FNE Program for this Zone including staff education and development, QI initiatives, researching best practices, oversight of scheduling, policies and procedures, community agency involvement, and public relations. Collaborates closely with other provincial SANE/FNE Coordinators.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
-
SANE certification (including pediatrics) or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
-
Previous experience working with sexually assaulted victims.
-
Actively registered – NB or eligible for such registration
-
At least 5 years nursing practice in emergency setting or with sexual assault victims
-
Demonstrated leadership and management skills.

Demonstrated effective communication skills (verbal and written).
-
Must be self-directed in problem solving, development of short and long-term goals and objectives.

Demonstrated ability to develop & deliver education through various modalities.

Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Functions actively as a SANE/FNE Registered Nurse and participates in on call schedules.
-
Develops and provides oversight of nurse on-call schedules to meet program needs.
-
Ensures standards of nursing practice are met within the SANE/FNE Program by implementing and reviewing policies and procedures, practices, monitoring trends, making recommendations for improvement and participating in the implementation.
-
Identifies clinical practice needs of the program and provides resources in collaboration with others to meet those needs.
-
Implements continuous quality improvement processes necessary to ensure the SANE/FNE Program meets the needs of the patients.
-
Participates in the application and evaluation of best practice by researching clinical issues in current literature and from industry experts. Plans and implements application of current trends within the clinical Program.

Collects statistics related to sexual assaults and others as required.
-
Participates in the interview and selection process for SANE/FNE Program nurses.
-
Designs, co-ordinates and delivers orientation for new staff.

Serves as a liaison with the service professionals i.e. forensics lab,
-
RCMP, Child Protection Services, Physicians, Judicial System, Boreal Centre etc.
-
Works closely with community partners and actively participates in public relations program to raise the awareness and promote the program.

Facilitates education of SANE/FNE by planning and scheduling relevant conferences and in-services. Participates in on-going clinical education to maintain current information / certification and to keep program content current and relevant.
