The Role
We are currently looking for a PACKAGING DESIGNER with a focus on Design for Home Décor Products to join our team. We are seeking a high-spirited, motivated, and energized employee who is results-driven. The ideal candidate will coordinate, design, and approve all aspects of branding and packaging design for production. This role is responsible for staying up to date on graphic trends in the retail industry and adapting those trends to our private-label and in-house brands. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams are essential. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, proactive in managing deadlines, and capable of balancing multiple projects while ensuring high-quality execution.

Key Responsibilities
Design & Artwork Production
- Work closely with the Packaging Design team, Product Development team, and Key Account Coordinators to uphold Industria client brand standards and support the creation of product packaging and print items
- Provide packaging die lines, manage artwork production, and coordinate print production with third-party vendors
- Prepare finalized print-ready packaging files in multiple formats for submission to printers, and resolve any artwork issues that arise during production
- Write and proofread copy for product packaging (French and English)
Print Production & Quality Control
- Review and approve digital printer proofs
- Prepare press proofs for submission to clients for approval
- Review print samples and provide feedback to printers, keeping detailed records of print sample feedback
- Oversee packaging development through to pre-production samples, and resolve and communicate production concerns to vendors
- Manage internal print sample inventory
- Complete final production sample reports
- Troubleshoot problems as they arise with both the Industria team and the printers
Project Management & Collaboration
- Communicate with factories regarding the packaging production process and timelines
- Effectively manage multiple projects and provide ongoing status reports to studio and sales teams, taking ownership of projects and executing them through to completion
- Update project management software to keep projects moving and on schedule, proactively managing deadlines and ensuring efficient workflow
- Update and maintain packaging information in master logs using Excel and Google Sheets
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, including sales, design, and production, to ensure clear communication and smooth project execution
Standards, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Comply with and stay up to date on legal requirements for the U.S. and Canada
- Stay up to date on modern packaging practices and research sustainable packaging alternatives
- Learn and adhere to multiple internal and client processes
- Support Packaging Design initiatives that strengthen packaging team performance, company performance, and client satisfaction
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree (or equivalent work experience) in Graphic Design or a relevant field
- Minimum 2 years of packaging experience
- Strong portfolio showing design skills, design process, and the development of consistent branding for consumer packaged goods across multiple items
- Proficient in Office Suite and Google Suite
- Strong proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop
- Strong production skills with an eye for detail — UPCs, pricing, product details
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Exceptional proofreading skills
- Knowledge of the printing process (an asset)
- Knowledge of packaging legal requirements for the U.S. and Canada
- Bilingual French/English (preferred but not required)

The Interview Process
Candidates who meet the preliminary education and experience requirements will be contacted for a phone screen. Following that, there will be interviews with various members of the team, as well as an assessment. At each stage of the process, you will be notified whether you are moving forward to the next stage.
