We are actively seeking an experienced Project Engineer that can be based in either our Halton, Toronto, or Barrie offices. The successful applicant will work with the transportation and electrical groups to prepare designs for traffic signals, roadway lighting and associated civil works. This position will require technical knowledge of traffic signals and roadway lighting for transportation infrastructure design and construction components for existing and new projects primarily throughout Ontario.
Duties:

Deliver engineering and design services for electrical systems on small to large-scale, multi-disciplinary transportation projects for public and private sector clients, including roadway lighting, traffic signals, and joint utility trench systems.

Prepare schematic and detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates.

Provide technical and administrative support throughout all project phases, from proposal development to construction completion.

Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients and internal teams (engineers, architects, designers, and project managers) to support design development and project delivery.

Conduct lighting analysis using AGi32 and support the preparation of contract documents and post-construction record drawings.

Perform periodic field visits to review existing conditions, assess conflicts, support construction activities, and participate in commissioning and site inspections.

Review shop drawings and assist with utility coordination and conflict resolution.

Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation and client relationship management.

Support and mentor junior staff and contribute to the overall growth of the Transportation – Electrical group.

Participate in internal and external professional development activities.
Qualifications:
-
Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering with a focus on roadway lighting and traffic signal design.

Minimum 5 years of relevant design experience, preferably within a consulting environment.

Strong knowledge of applicable standards and regulations (e.g., TAC, ESA, IMSA, AODA, RP-8, Ontario Traffic Manuals, OPSS, Highway Traffic Act, PHM-125 Legal Plans).

Proficiency in AGi32 and AutoCAD; experience with MicroStation, AutoTurn, and SPIDAcalc is an asset.

Experience with utility coordination, conflict assessment, and preparation of pavement marking and roadway signage plans.

Ability to calculate tender quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.

Familiarity with Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) and municipal project requirements.

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for business use.

Compensation Range
The salary range for this position is: $85,000.00 - $135,000.00
Compensation for this role will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
