Position Summary
Modern Peak Contracting is seeking a motivated and dependable Framer/Carpenter to join our growing team. Whether you are an experienced framer or someone looking to build a long-term career in the construction industry, we value individuals with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and pride in producing quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct wood-frame residential buildings, including houses, apartment buildings, garages, decks, and additions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, building plans, and project specifications.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install framing materials accurately.
- Install floor systems, walls, roof trusses, rafters, and structural components.
- Safely operate hand tools, and power tools.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite.
- Follow all Occupational Health and Safety regulations and company safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with crew members, supervisors, subcontractors, and other trades.
- Identify and resolve framing issues while maintaining quality standards.
- Assist with material handling, site preparation, and project clean-up as required.
- Complete projects efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Qualifications
- Previous framing or carpentry experience is considered an asset.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (both spoken and written) to understand safety procedures, follow instructions, and communicate with team members and other trades.
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic construction math.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Physically capable of lifting heavy materials and performing repetitive manual labour.
- Comfortable working at heights and using ladders and scaffolding.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Reliable transportation to various job sites throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality.
- Valid driver's license is considered an asset.
- Own basic hand tools, including a tool belt, hammer, tape measure, speed square, utility knife, and chalk line.

Working Conditions
- Full-time, year-round employment (weather permitting).
- Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime as required.
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Frequent lifting, climbing, kneeling, and prolonged standing.
- Travel between residential construction sites within the Halifax area.

Pay: $18.00-$30.00 per hour
