Job Summary
Precision Garage Door Service of Vancouver is looking for an experienced and motivated Commercial Service Manager to lead our commercial service department. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our commercial service team, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining high-quality workmanship, and driving departmental growth and profitability.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, experience in the overhead door, gate, or related trades industry, and the ability to manage technicians, scheduling, estimating, and customer relationships in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the commercial service department, including scheduling, dispatching, and workflow management.
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of commercial technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service.
- Review service reports, estimates, and invoices for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide technical support and guidance to technicians when required.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards, manufacturer specifications, and safety regulations.
- Work closely with customers, property managers, strata councils, contractors, and facility managers to provide excellent service and resolve concerns.
- Prepare and review quotations for repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment replacements.
- Monitor technician productivity, service quality, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Coordinate parts ordering, inventory, and equipment requirements with suppliers and internal staff.
- Assist with warranty claims and manufacturer support.
- Develop and grow preventative maintenance agreements and commercial service opportunities.
- Conduct technician training, performance reviews, and regular team meetings.
- Promote a positive, professional, and safety-focused work environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of management or supervisory experience in the overhead door, gate, construction, mechanical, or related service industry.
- Strong knowledge of commercial overhead doors, operators, loading dock equipment, automatic gates, and access control systems is preferred.
- Proven leadership experience managing field technicians and service operations.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Strong customer service and communication abilities.
- Experience preparing estimates, reviewing service reports, and managing service schedules.
- Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with service management software is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driving record.
