Position Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing incoming and in-process inspections for mechanical components and fabricated products used in office partition manufacturing and architectural projects. The role supports supplier and manufacturing quality, NCR/CAPA management, MRB participation, and engineering support activities.
Preference will be given to candidates with an engineering degree or strong mechanical manufacturing background.
Key Responsibilities
Incoming Inspection
· Perform incoming inspections of mechanical components, fabricated parts, raw materials, and purchased items
· Conduct visual and dimensional inspections according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards
· Verify compliance with tolerances, finishes, and material requirements
· Identify and segregate nonconforming materials
Inspection Documentation
· Create and maintain incoming inspection forms and checklists for various mechanical items and assemblies
· Record inspection results accurately and maintain traceability documentation
· Maintain inspection records within ERP and quality management systems
Dimensional Inspection
Use conventional measuring equipment including:
· Calipers
· Micrometers
· Height gauges
· Gauge pins
· Gauge blocks
· Tape measures
· Basic inspection fixtures and gauges
Perform:
· First article inspections
· Incoming inspections
· In-process inspections
· Final inspections as required
NCR / CAPA Management
· Generate and document NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports)
· Assist with containment activities and defect tracking
· Support root cause investigations
· Participate in CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) activities
· Follow up on corrective actions and verification activities
MRB Participation
· Participate in MRB (Material Review Board) discussions and evaluations
· Support disposition activities including:
o Rework
o Repair
o Use-as-is
o Scrap
o Return to vendor
Engineering & Administrative Support
· Support engineering with drawing updates and revisions
· Assist with ERP system data entry and maintenance
· Update BOMs, item records, inspection records, and routing information as required
· Support document control activities
Qualifications:
Education
Preferred:
· Diploma or Degree in:
o Mechanical Engineering
o Manufacturing Engineering
o Industrial Engineering
o Mechanical Engineering Technology
o Quality Engineering
Equivalent experience in manufacturing quality may also be considered.
Experience
Preferred:
· 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a mechanical manufacturing environment
· Experience reading engineering drawings
· Experience with sheet metal, machined components, injection molding, and aluminum extrusions
Technical Skills
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
· Familiarity with dimensional tolerances and inspection methods
· Experience using conventional measuring instruments
· Basic understanding of NCR, CAPA, and MRB processes
· ERP system experience preferred
· SolidWorks knowledge preferred
· Proficient with Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications
