Team Lead – Operations
Position Summary
The Operations Team Lead is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and direction to the operations team within the chemical mixing and blending facility. This position promotes a safe, productive, and efficient work environment while ensuring operational activities are completed in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
The Team Lead works closely with Operations, Logistics, and Management to coordinate daily activities, support continuous improvement initiatives, and lead by example through a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership

Demonstrate and promote a safety-first culture in all aspects of operations.

Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company safety policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements.

Lead daily safety discussions and reinforce safe work practices.

Report and investigate near misses, incidents, and hazards promptly.
-
Participate in safety meetings, audits, inspections, and corrective action follow-up.
-
Ensure employees are using the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe operating procedures.
Operations Leadership

Direct and coordinate daily operational activities for the blending, mixing, loading, and transloading teams.

Assign work and monitor progress to ensure production and shipping schedules are achieved safely and efficiently.

Provide coaching, guidance, and support to team members.

Assist with employee training and onboarding.

Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
Chemical Blending & Material Handling
-
Oversee chemical blending and mixing operations while ensuring product quality standards are maintained.

Coordinate truck and railcar loading and unloading operations.
-
Perform and supervise transloading activities between trucks and railcars.
-
Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.

Ensure proper handling, storage, and inventory control of chemical products.
Systems & Documentation

Utilize SAP for production reporting, inventory transactions, shipping and receiving activities, and operational documentation.

Use Microsoft Teams for communication, scheduling, and coordination with internal departments.

Complete safety observations, inspections, permits, and required documentation using CompliantPro.

Maintain accurate production, inventory, and operational records.
Communication & Teamwork

Communicate daily operational priorities and expectations to the operations team.

Work collaboratively with Production, Logistics, Customer Service, and Management.

Escalate operational issues and recommend practical solutions.

Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable team environment.
Qualifications
Required
-
Previous leadership or supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, 5 years previous experienced preferred. 1 year experience required.

Experience working in chemical blending, manufacturing, bulk liquid handling, or a similar industrial operation.

Experience with truck and railcar transloading operations.

Forklift certification or the ability to become certified.

Working knowledge of SAP.

Proficiency using Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office applications.

Experience using electronic safety management systems such as CompliantPro.

Strong understanding of safe work practices and hazard identification.

Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
-
Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Comfortable working around industrial equipment and chemical products while wearing required PPE.
Work Schedule

Ability to work rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as operational requirements dictate.

Willingness to work overtime to support business needs.

Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to operational emergencies or after-hours requirements.
