Fresh Routes is a registered not-for-profit social enterprise that brings healthy, affordable food directly into underserved communities in Calgary and surrounding areas. We operate mobile grocery stores, fresh produce markets on wheels—that increase access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food. About the Role
We’re looking for a reliable, community-minded Route Operator to join our team and help bring fresh, healthy food to people who need it most. You’ll be the driver and face of our mobile grocery store—setting up markets, connecting with community members, and helping run a smooth operation from start to finish.
This role is ideal for someone who:

- Has vendor experience - Worked at a market or grocery store before? We want to hear from you.

- Enjoys engaging with people from all walks of life
- Experience working with food, and working with plants or produce is a bonus
- Can lift 50 lbs regularly and work on their feet
- Is comfortable solving problems on the fly and adapting in a fast-moving environment
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the Fresh Routes mobile market along scheduled community routes
- Load and unload inventory (boxes up to 50 lbs), set up and take down markets
- Manage inventory and ensure accurate stock tracking
- Deliver excellent customer service and build trust with community members
- Supervise and support volunteers during markets
- Troubleshoot issues with the vehicle, route, or setup as needed
- Represent Fresh Routes with professionalism and warmth
We’re Looking For
- At least 3 years of commercial driving experience
- A clean Class 5 Alberta driver’s license (25+ years old, insurance requirement)
- Strong interpersonal skills and a people-first mindset
- Comfort with physical work (lifting, bending, standing)
- A solution-oriented attitude and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- Someone who is purpose-driven and aligned with our mission of food justice
- Availability for flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
Nice to Have
- Experience working with underserved or marginalized communities
- Experience supervising volunteers or working in community-based settings
- Experience working at a farmers market, grocery store, or retail customer-facing position.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
