Railtown Catering has been creating memorable events since 2012. We are known for our chef-driven menus, exceptional service, and strong relationships with Vancouver's top venues and clients. Our team is passionate about hospitality, food, and creating experiences that people talk about long after the event is over.
What You'll Do
As an Event Manager, you'll be the onsite leader responsible for ensuring events run smoothly from start to finish.
You'll:
- Lead and supervise event staff onsite
- Coordinate event setup, service, and teardown
- Ensure food and beverage presentation meets Railtown's high standards
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients during events
- Problem-solve in real time and adapt quickly to changing circumstances
- Assist with loading, transportation, and organization of event equipment and supplies
- Train and mentor team members
- Help create exceptional guest experiences at every event
- Represent the Railtown brand with professionalism and enthusiasm
No two days are the same. One day you may be managing a corporate reception downtown, and the next you could be overseeing a wedding overlooking the ocean.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who combines strong hospitality instincts with excellent leadership skills. The ideal candidate will have:
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience in hospitality, catering, restaurants, hotels, or events
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- A positive attitude and calm demeanor under pressure
- The ability to lead a team and motivate others
- A valid BC Driver's License and clean driver's abstract, experience driving vans.
- Food Safe Level 1 (or higher)
- Serving It Right certification
Experience in catering or event management is a requirement.
Compensation & Perks
Base Wage: $22.00 per hour
In addition to your hourly wage, Event Managers participate in our monthly gratuity program. Tips are distributed monthly and typically add an additional $15-$20 per hour worked, bringing total effective compensation to approximately $37-$42 per hour.
