About Us
The Furniture Guys is a North York custom furniture and millwork manufacturer. We design and build commercial casework, office furniture, and bespoke pieces — from shop drawing to finished product, in-house.
The Role
We're looking for a versatile CNC Operator who's happy to wear more than one hat. You'll take a prepared cutlist, build the nest in Maestro yourself, and run it on our SCM Pratix S CNC router. Our production volume varies week to week — so when CNC work is light, you'll jump in on edgebanding, assembly, and other shop tasks. Training will be provided, so we're as interested in the right attitude and aptitude as years of experience. This role suits someone who likes staying busy and being useful across the floor.
What You'll Do
- Create nests in Maestro from a provided cutlist — optimize material yield and tooling
- Set up, operate, and monitor the SCM Pratix S CNC router for daily production runs
- Verify tooling, feeds, and material before each run
- Read shop drawings, cut lists, and labels to confirm correct parts and quantities
- Run the edgebander and handle edgebanding when CNC work is light
- Pitch in on assembly, sanding, material handling, and general shop tasks as needed
- Tool changes, bit checks, and routine machine maintenance
- Inspect cut parts for accuracy and quality; flag issues early
- Keep the work area, dust collection, and machine clean and safe
What We're Looking For
- Some hands-on experience operating a CNC router (woodworking/panel processing preferred) — training provided to the right candidate
- Aptitude for nesting software (Maestro or comparable); willingness to learn our workflow
- Reliable and punctual — in a small shop we count on each other
- Willing to take on other shop tasks (edgebanding, assembly, finishing) when needed
- Comfortable reading shop drawings and cut lists
- Solid measuring, math, and attention to detail
- Steel-toed safety boots required
- Able to lift sheet goods and stand for full shifts
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
Nice to Have
- Experience on an SCM Pratix S (or other SCM / Morbidelli machine) — a real plus
- Forklift experience / valid forklift license — a real asset
- Experience with melamine, MDF, plywood, and laminate panel processing
- Edgebanding experience
- Basic AutoCAD familiarity
What We Offer
- Steady full-time work in a busy, hands-on shop
- On-the-job training
- Pay increase to $28/hr after a successful 90-day probation
- A team that takes pride in quality custom work
To apply: Send your resume and please include a brief note on your CNC and shop experience.

Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
