Jim Pattison Toyota on Regent is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accounting Assistant to join our accounting team. This position will support our dealership operations as well as our Collision Centre and Glass Department, ensuring accurate financial administration, account reconciliation, reporting, and overall office operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records while providing administrative support to departmental operations. This position will also serve as a backup for vehicle deal processing within the dealership.
A Day in the Life
- Reconcile departmental accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner.
- Prepare and maintain monthly account reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collections as required.
- Review repair orders, insurance payments, and related documentation for accuracy.
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
- Generate and distribute financial reports for management review.
- Maintain accurate records and support audit requirements.
- Provide general office and administrative support to the Collision and Glass departments.
- Assist with document management, filing, and record retention.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure efficient workflow and accurate reporting.
- Respond to inquiries from customers, vendors, insurance partners, and staff as needed.
- Serve as a backup for vehicle deal processing and funding activities.
- Assist with vehicle inventory accounting and related dealership transactions when required.
- Support the accounting team with additional duties and special projects as assigned.
What We're Look For
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably within an automotive dealership or collision centre environment.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with dealership management systems is considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of dealership accounting processes and deal posting is considered a strong asset.
