COMMUNITY RESOURCE WORKER 2 for SSI-4

About the position:
McMan Youth, Family and Community Services is seeking compassionate and skilled Community Resource Worker (CRW 2) to join our Specialized Supports for Independence (SSI) program.
In this role, you will support a male adult with developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, and complex behaviours who has experienced homelessness.
Your focus will be on building trust, promoting daily living skills, fostering community connections, and supporting decision-making that encourages independence and healthy lifestyle choices. The successful candidate will be confident in supporting individuals experiencing cognitive and behavioural challenges associated with FASD and mental health concerns, while helping them manage substance-related risks and maintain day-to-day stability.
Available Positions: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (40 hours/week)
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
What you’ll do:
· Act as a strong advocate for the individual in the community and assist with daily living skills.
· Participate in swimming activities and provide support during visits to aquatic facilities.
· Accompany to church services and faith-based activities as desired.
· Accompany on walks and participate in recreational and community-based activities.
· Assist with substance abuse issues using a harm-reduction and trauma-informed approach.
· Assist with managing mental health, substance use, health issues and trauma with other community partners in a multidisciplinary team.
· Behavior Management/supporting adults with complex needs; support with legal matters.
· Program implementation and development.
· Case management, including maintaining and updating working files
· Completing daily documentation and data collection.
· Working with individuals and staff team to create, implement, maintain and update personal support plans
What you bring:
· One year of post-secondary education in a related human services field. Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtain registration within three months of hire.
· At least one year of experience working with adults with mental health and addiction concerns; demonstrated case management experience
· Equivalencies may be considered
· Security Clearance Check, including Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (within the last 6 months)
· Emergency First Aid-Level A CPR + AED
· Valid Class 5 driver’s license, driver’s abstract, reliable vehicle and auto insurance are required
· Familiarity working with high-risk populations, addictions, complex behaviour, poverty, houselessness and the justice system
· Ability to build healthy relationships and manage crisis situations
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; computer/word processing skills
· Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Naloxone Administration, and Trauma-Informed Care training are considered an asset
