Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems across various projects. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical codes and safety standards as they relate to substation and underground work. The Electrician will work in diverse environments, utilizing a wide range of tools and machinery to ensure the safe and efficient functioning of electrical infrastructure.
Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, panels, and systems in substation and underground work
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete electrical work
- Perform low voltage wiring and systems installation as required
- Conduct inspections to identify electrical issues and implement appropriate solutions
- Collaborate with team members to execute projects efficiently while adhering to safety protocols
- Assist with welding tasks related to electrical infrastructure when necessary
- Operate heavy equipment as required.
Requirements
- Electrical Trade Certification; Red Seal Endorsement preferred;
- Preferred 5+ years of journey experience in electrical/underground/substation construction;
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and safety standards;
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and rigging techniques;
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills;
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage a team;
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity; and,
- Valid Driver’s License.
Working Conditions
- Regular travel (primarily across NS/NB), sometimes for extended shift schedules;
- Lifting (loading and unloading) objects up to 60lbs;
- Working outside for long hours in all weather conditions, sometimes in remote areas;
- Sometimes traversing uneven/offroad terrain in remote locations; and,
- Potential for encounters with local wildlife and insects.
Pay: From $44.62 per hour
