Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing ingredients and cooking dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Support the Executive Chef or First Cook in meal assembly, plating, and presentation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering strictly to food safety protocols
- Help with menu planning by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation techniques
- Handle food preparation tasks efficiently, including chopping, portioning, and cooking various ingredients
- Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed to prevent contamination and ensure freshness
- Contribute to catering events and special functions by preparing large quantities of food with precision
- Support the team during busy service periods by managing multiple stations and ensuring timely delivery of meals
Skills
- Proven experience in dietary departments or dietary aide roles demonstrating knowledge of special dietary needs
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food handling within restaurant or food industry settings
- Skilled in menu planning, meal preparation, and fine dining techniques that elevate presentation quality
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in various cooking methods for diverse cuisines
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper storage procedures
- Experience in catering services or large-scale food service operations is highly desirable
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards
