Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.
Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.
Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Superintendent, Mill Maintenance to join our Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations site.
This role operates on a rotation of 7 days on/7days off at a 12-hour daily schedule with camp accommodations provided.
Reporting to the Mill Manager, the Mill Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading the safe, reliable, and cost-effective execution of all mechanical maintenance activities across the concentrator. This includes fixed plant maintenance, shutdown planning and execution, predictive and preventive maintenance programs, contractor management, and continuous improvement initiatives that support safe, reliable production.
The Mill Maintenance Superintendent provides visible leadership to a diverse team of supervisors, tradespeople, planners, reliability professionals, and contractors. The successful candidate will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement while ensuring maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide leadership that reinforces Centerra's commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
- Lead and develop a high-performing maintenance organization through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and employee development.
- Ensure all maintenance work is planned and executed safely in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver reliable maintenance execution to maximize equipment availability and plant performance while optimizing maintenance costs.
- Lead the planning and execution of major shutdowns, outages, and capital maintenance activities.
- Collaborate closely with Mill Operations, Reliability, Metallurgy, Supply Chain, and other site departments to align priorities and improve overall business performance.
- Partner with Reliability to drive continuous improvement initiatives using root cause analysis, defect elimination, and risk-based maintenance principles.
- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance programs are effective, sustainable, and continuously improved.
- Monitor key maintenance performance indicators (KPIs) and develop action plans to improve equipment reliability, work management, schedule compliance, and workforce productivity.
- Support the development and management of annual operating and capital budgets while maintaining cost discipline.
- Ensure maintenance systems, work management processes, and asset information within SAP are accurate and effectively utilized.
- Manage contractors and external service providers to ensure safe, high-quality, and cost-effective execution of work.
- Participate in long-term maintenance strategies that support asset health, plant availability, and life-of-mine objectives.
The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:
- Minimum ten years of maintenance experience within large industrial or mining operations, with significant experience supporting mineral processing or heavy industrial facilities.
- Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience supervising maintenance teams in a complex operating environment.
- Demonstrated success leading mechanical maintenance organizations with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and employee engagement.
- Strong understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling, shutdown management, reliability engineering, and asset management best practices.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, preferably SAP.
- Working knowledge of condition monitoring, predictive maintenance technologies, and root cause failure analysis.
- Experience managing operating and capital budgets.
- Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands while maintaining focus on safety, risk mitigation, quality, cost, and schedule.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills supported by sound judgment and data-driven decision-making.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Millwright Technology, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, trade certification, Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), or Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) is considered an asset.
- Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 7 on/ 7 off or 14 on/ 14 off, 12 hours per day
- Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration
- Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site
