A growing food manufacturing organization is seeking a licensed Industrial Millwright to join its maintenance and engineering team. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment within a highly automated production environment.
The successful candidate will support equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and help ensure safe, efficient operation of food processing and packaging lines. Responsibilities
- Install, align, dismantle, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial machinery and production equipment
- Work on food processing and packaging equipment such as conveyors, pumps, mixers, grinders, slicers, and related production systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, mechanical drawings, and schematics to determine work procedures and required parts
- Inspect machinery and equipment to identify wear, defects, malfunctions, or opportunities to improve performance
- Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance to support equipment uptime and production reliability
- Use tools and equipment such as welders, cutting equipment, hydraulic tools, hoists, cranes, jacks, and precision measuring instruments
- Support troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated equipment in collaboration with electricians, automation technicians, and production teams
- Complete maintenance work orders, service records, inspection reports, and documentation in a computerized maintenance management system
- Participate in continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and equipment reliability initiatives
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures, GMP standards, food safety requirements, and occupational health and safety regulations
- Communicate equipment issues, repair updates, and downtime concerns to maintenance, production, quality, sanitation, and other internal teams
- Work with third-party vendors or contractors when required
Qualifications
- Valid Industrial Millwright licence
- Experience maintaining and repairing equipment in a manufacturing, food processing, packaging, or automated production environment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with experience working on conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, and production machinery
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, diagrams, and schematics
- Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Familiarity with CMMS systems and maintenance documentation
- Understanding of GMP, food safety, lockout/tagout, and workplace safety practices
- Experience using hoisting, lifting, welding, cutting, and precision measuring tools
- Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with maintenance, production, quality, sanitation, and external service providers
- Continuous improvement or root cause analysis experience considered an asset
- Food manufacturing experience considered an asset
- Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, or on-call support as required
