Position Overview
The City of Kamloops is looking for a highly skilled permanent, full-time Engineering Design Technician II who is proficient in using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D design software to complete complex municipal design and drafting projects. Your projects will revolve around municipal designs such as roads/sidewalks, water/sanitation mains and storm drainage. We are looking for a well-organized, motivated individual who has a high degree of visual and mental concentration. The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
- Completion of a two-year Computer Aided Design and Drafting program OR a two-year Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum three (3) years' previous experience in municipal design using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D design software.
- Registered as a Civil Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC).
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position. This is a CUPE local 900 position.

$47.942 (2025)
Hours & Days of Work
Monday - Friday
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (summer)
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (winter)
With the ability to apply for a modified schedule allowing for one day off every third week.
