Position Summary
The Senior Legal Manager serves as internal legal counsel for a diversified property management and real estate organization with assets across the residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors. The role provides strategic and practical legal guidance across a broad range of business and operational matters, including leasing, contracts, regulatory compliance, risk management, and corporate operations.
This role supports the organization in identifying and mitigating legal risk while enabling business objectives and operational efficiency. The position requires a business-oriented approach, sound judgment, and the ability to manage complex legal matters in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Experience in real estate, leasing, hospitality, or property-related legal matters is considered a strong asset.
This role is based in our Halifax office and is an in-office position, five days per week.

REQUIRED SKILLS
- A high level of common sense, business acumen, and emotional intelligence.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- The ability and confidence to balance legal risk with practical business objectives.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Law degree and membership in good standing with a Canadian provincial bar association.
- 5+ years of legal experience preferred, with exposure to:
- Real estate law,
- Commercial leasing, and
- Property management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the drafting, negotiation, review, and administration of commercial leasing agreements across office, retail, industrial, mixed-use, and residential assets, including renewals, amendments, assignments, inducements, defaults, and landlord-tenant matters.
- Provide practical legal advice to leasing, asset management, operations, and executive teams on day-to-day real estate matters and business initiatives.
- Support public company legal and governance requirements associated with a TSX-listed issuer, including corporate governance, continuous disclosure, and related compliance matters.
- Support a range of general commercial real estate legal matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, financing, development, construction, vendor contracts, and property operations.
- Assist with litigation management, dispute resolution, and coordination with external legal counsel as required.
- Help develop legal templates, policies, and processes to support efficient operations and risk management.
- Work collaboratively across the organization and provide business-focused, solutions-oriented legal guidance in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation
This role offers a salary range of $100,000 - $130,000. Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and job-related factors.
Pay: $100,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
