Starbelly Open Kitchen & Lounge is seeking a dynamic and experienced Shift Leader to oversee daily restaurant operations and support our front and back of house teams in delivering exceptional guest experiences.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with experience in hospitality, food service, and team supervision. This role is responsible for ensuring smooth shift operations, maintaining high standards of food quality and safety, and creating a positive, energetic environment for both guests and staff. Previous restaurant supervisory or management experience is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily restaurant operations during assigned shifts
- Lead, motivate, and support team members in a fast-paced hospitality environment
- Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and guest service
- Oversee customer interactions and resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently
- Manage cash handling procedures and POS transactions accurately
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Assist with training and onboarding new employees
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management
- Support kitchen and service teams as needed to maintain efficient operations
- Enforce company policies, workplace standards, and service expectations
- Maintain strong communication between front of house and kitchen teams
- Help foster a positive team culture focused on teamwork, professionalism, and hospitality excellence
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in restaurant supervision, hospitality, or food service leadership roles
- Strong understanding of food preparation, food safety, and restaurant operations
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Experience with POS systems and cash handling procedures
- Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure in a busy environment
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Experience training or mentoring staff is an asset
- Barista, lounge, or hotel experience is considered an advantage

Job Overview
As a Shift Leader at Starbelly Open Kitchen & Lounge, you will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day operations during service while supporting both the front and back of house teams. You will help maintain our standards in food quality, hospitality, cleanliness, and team culture while ensuring every guest leaves happy.
We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a positive attitude who can stay calm under pressure and motivate the team during busy services.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily shift operations and ensure smooth restaurant service
- Support and motivate front and back of house staff during service
- Deliver and maintain Starbelly’s standards for hospitality and guest experience
- Handle guest concerns professionally and create positive resolutions
- Ensure food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and service standards are consistently met
- Assist with opening and closing procedures
- Oversee POS transactions and cash handling accurately
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
- Assist with staff training, coaching, and onboarding
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and management teams
- Help maintain a positive, respectful, and team-focused work environment
- Step in wherever needed to support the team during busy periods
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations and hospitality standards
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with POS systems and cash handling
- Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
