HOURS OF WORK:
The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a member of the Eating Disorder Program working with both the Women’s Health Care Centre and the Family and Youth Clinic, the Nurse Practitioner, RN(EC) will work with both Child, Adolescent and Adult clients presenting with a spectrum of Disordered Eating. The Nurse Practitioner works with two multi-disciplinary teams dealing with specialized populations. Both teams adopt a client-centered, evidence-based service model based on standards of best practice established by the Provincial Eating Disorder Outreach Network.
The position provides ongoing health care monitoring and provision of primary health care to clients in addition to providing some outreach to community-based health services in the Four County area.
The Nurse Practitioner reports to the Manager of Outpatient Mental Health Services and liaisons with their consulting physician partner. There is a matrix reporting relationship to Nursing Professional Practice and the Chief Nursing Executive. The NP functions in an expanded role demonstrating a high level of autonomy and expert skill to formulate clinical decisions and appropriately manage acute/chronic illness and promote wellness. The NP functions in a collegial and professional relationship with the two Eating Disorder teams including Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers, Dietitians, Psychologists and other interdisciplinary team members who influence the health environment. The collaborative practice of the NP includes managing an appropriate case load of patients as well as accepting referrals from, consulting with, or referring to community health care providers in order to promote comprehensive and continuity of care in both primary and acute care specialty practice as well as accepting self-referrals.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

Nurse Practitioner – Primary Health Care Certificate (NP-PHC)
-
RN with Extended Class required
-
Current Certificate of (licensure)/registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario required
-
Valid drivers license and vehicle for outreach required
-
Three to five years related clinical experience required
-
Mental Health and/or community health nursing experience preferred
-
Experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Interpersonal Behavioural Therapy considered an asset

Masters degree in nursing preferred
