WAGE RATE: $45.49 – $64.06
Reporting to the Manager, the Nursing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating day-to-day activities in the operating room. The Coordinator oversees the care given by other nursing professionals in the department and provides direct care as required. The Nursing Coordinator is responsible for staff scheduling, daily staffing assignments, maintaining equipment and supplies necessary for the delivery of care and will act as a role model for staff in promoting multi-disciplinary communication, co-ordination of care and implementation of evidence based best practice within the surgical unit.
Skills/Abilities/Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses
- Successful completion of the Operating Room certificate and/or at least two years OR experience in the last three years
- Recent experience in a coordinator or other leadership role
- Demonstrated excellent leadership, problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
- Canadian Perioperative Nursing Certification/CPNc, or eligibility to obtain
- Sound knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of all services
- Knowledge of the current ORNAC standards
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment
- Ability to function as a team member
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to flex time to meet unit’s needs
- Proven verbal and written, including electronic, communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, decision making and organizational skills
- Ability to respond to urgent/emergency situations
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record

Preferred
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
