We are currently seeking a compassionate and dependable Health Care Aide / Personal Support Worker to join an established care team supporting a senior client living with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in a private home setting.
Position Overview
This role focuses on providing supportive daily care, companionship, safety supervision, hygiene assistance, meal support, and cognitive engagement for a client requiring consistent and gentle care.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who values relationship-based care and enjoys working in a calm, one-on-one home environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance while preserving client dignity
- Assist with hygiene, dressing, toileting, and mobility support
- Encourage hydration and nutrition
- Assist with meal preparation and meal setup
- Provide companionship and cognitive stimulation through conversation and activities
- Support safety monitoring and fall prevention
- Monitor skin condition, comfort, and overall well-being
- Assist with medication reminders/administration as directed
- Maintain accurate documentation and communication with family and agency team
- Follow established care plans and safety procedures
Ideal Candidate
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable
- Comfortable working with clients experiencing dementia/cognitive decline
- Strong communication and observational skills
- Able to work independently within a home environment
- Calm, gentle, and emotionally mature
- Reliable transportation preferred
Qualifications
- Health Care Aide Certificate, Personal Support Worker Certificate, or equivalent experience preferred
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Previous home care or dementia-care experience considered an asset
Schedule & Hours
- Approximate monthly hours: 80–90 hours
- 4-on / 4-off rotation
- Combination of daytime and occasional evening support shifts
- Consistent scheduling to promote caregiver and client stability
