We are currently seeking a motivated and patient-centred Clinical Assistant to support surgeons, nurses, and clinical teams across clinic, pre-operative, and post-operative areas.
Position Overview
Vitalis Surgical Centre is seeking a Clinical Assistant to support our surgical, perioperative, and patient‑care teams. This role is ideal for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) who have completed medical training and are pursuing supervised clinical roles in Manitoba.
You will work directly with physicians, surgeons, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure safe, efficient patient flow and high‑quality care.

Clinical & Surgical Support
- Assist surgeons and clinical staff with pre‑operative assessments, patient preparation, and post‑operative monitoring
- Support procedure room workflow, including patient positioning, safety checks, and documentation
- Perform clinical tasks such as vital signs, ECGs, point‑of‑care testing, and specimen handling
- Coordinate patient movement between pre‑op, OR/procedure rooms, and recovery
- Maintain accurate, timely charting in accordance with Vitalis policies
- Provide patient education and discharge instructions
- Support infection‑control practices, sterile field maintenance, and equipment readiness
- Assist with emergency response procedures as trained
- Collaborate with administrative staff to ensure smooth scheduling and patient flow
- Uphold Vitalis standards for professionalism, confidentiality, and patient safety
Required Qualifications
- International Medical Graduate (IMG) with completed medical degree
- Successful completion of NAC‑OSCE
- Eligibility for or pursuit of Clinical Assistant licensure in Manitoba
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced surgical environment
- Ability to follow clinical protocols, safety procedures, and documentation standards
- Professional, compassionate approach to patient care
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in ambulatory surgery, procedural clinics, or acute care
- Familiarity with perioperative workflows, sterile technique, and surgical safety checklists
- Training in IPAC, CSA Z8000, or AORN-aligned practices (asset)
- Experience with EMR systems (Accuro,LibreMD, or equivalent)
Schedule & Work Environment
- Flexible shifts: daytime, evening, and occasional weekend availability
