We are looking for passionate craft artisans in leather. Here are the skills you need to lead craft workshops. How to work leather by hand :
- Knowledge of basic leatherworking techniques (cutting, dyeing, hand-stitching, finishing, hardware installation)
- Ability to guide participants through making small leather goods (e.g., card holders, keychains, wallets, belts)
- Proficiency with hand tools such as awls, half-moon knives, hole punches, stitching needles, and edge bevelers
- Understanding of different types of leather and their characteristics (vegetable-tanned, chrome-tanned, thicknesses, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship (clean cuts, even stitches, polished edges)
- Awareness of safety practices when using sharp tools and equipment
