Veterinary Assistant (Full-Time / Part-Time)
Peach City Animal Hospital is a modern, growing small-animal hospital serving dogs and cats in beautiful Penticton, BC. We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and motivated Veterinary Assistant(s) to join our team. This position is ideal for an individuals who enjoys working with animals, values teamwork, and thrives in a fast-paced veterinary environment. The successful candidate(s) will play an important role in patient care, client service, and supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in daily hospital operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely restrain, handle, and care for dogs and cats
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, surgeries, and dental procedures
- Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly report changes in patient condition
- Prepare and process laboratory samples
- Assist with diagnostic imaging, including radiographs (X-rays)
- Prepare equipment, treatment areas, and surgical suites
- Educate clients regarding medications, preventive care, and treatment recommendations
- Keep the hospital clean, organized, and well-stocked
- Support reception and other team members as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a veterinary hospital, animal care facility, kennel, daycare, grooming salon, or related field is preferred
- Comfortable handling and restraining dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments
- Ability to lift and move animals and equipment, occasionally exceeding 25–30 kg
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Schedule
- Full-time or Part-time positions available
- 8-hour or 10-hour shifts
- Day, evening, and weekend availability required
