ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
This role reports to the Welder Testing Coordinator.
SUMMARY
The Student Assistant, Welder Testing Support provides general operational assistance in support of KPU welder testing. The role supports preparation of materials, maintenance of workspaces, and basic logistical tasks that contribute to program delivery, and shop readiness.
Work is routine in nature and aligned with foundational skills taught within the program, with tasks completed under supervision and in accordance with established safety procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare materials and resources for instructional activities and student assessments.
Support setup, organization, and basic cleaning of shop and workspace areas for welder testing.
Complete routine entry-level preparation tasks aligned with program coursework (e.g., material or coupon preparation).
Provide logistical support during testing, as directed.
Monitor basic supply needs and report issues to instructional staff.
Follow all safety procedures, including appropriate PPE and tool usage.
QUALIFICATIONS
Active student within a relevant trades program at the Faculty of Trades and Technology.
Familiarity with shop safety practices and appropriate PPE usage through coursework.
Ability to perform routine hands-on tasks in a shop environment.
Reliable, organized, and able to manage time within scheduled shifts.
Demonstrates attention to detail and willingness to support team operations.
Able to follow instructions and work both independently and collaboratively.
Physically able to perform light material handling and shop support activities.
