ABOUT THE ROLE
The QC Technician is responsible for safely implementing Quality Control for the production and shipping of our products. The main objective of the technician is to ensure the quality and the consistency of the concrete, as well as to help provide logistics support on site and solve any issues that arise, helping deal with the situations immediately.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Work in a safe and effective manner following the Innocon Safety Program and applicable legislation.
- Be directly involved in risk analysis necessary for lab and field activities, development and application of improvement plans in relation to Health & Safety and ergonomics.
- Ensure the Quality Plan for our materials produced and shipped is applied across our local area.
- Testing of plastic concrete air, slump, temperature, and molding of concrete cylinders.
- Make sure all testing results are entered in our QC software , analyze the results, and share them with the Operations teams to ensure our products comply with specifications.
- Participate with Operation teams to conduct production adjustments needed to insure product conformance.
- Provide site logistics support and act as a liaison between the customer and our business.
- Maintain excellent relationships with Sales, Operations, and Customer Support teams , and visit customer job sites for testing and technical troubleshooting.
- Assist in administrative activities and insure all documentation is updated in order to maintain our RMCAO Certification.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education & Work Experience:
- Secondary education with experience in construction.
- Post-secondary education in Civil technology, engineering, or equivalent (or advanced students) is a plus.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Experience in the construction materials (aggregates, asphalt, and concrete) industry is ideal.
- This is an entry-level position that gives a good opportunity to build a solid career at Innocon.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the capability of creating good relationships internally and externally with our customers.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
- Driven, proactive, high accountability, and self-motivated.
- Good computer skills for Windows-based software.
- Valid Driver's License, minimum G2.
Additional Requirements:
- This role requires the candidate to work evenings and nights. Availability for shift work is required.
- Flexible hours may be required on occasion to meet the demands of our customers, which will include overtime and weekend work.
- Must be able to work in outdoor and indoor work environments in all weather.
- Able to perform a variety of tasks, including moderate to heavy lifting, bending, reaching, and carrying.
- This role will require the handling of cements, aggregates, concrete, and lab equipment.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
