Connex Personnel is currently recruiting a Civil Engineer to join its Client’s Engineering Services team. The individuals will support the execution of projects throughout Newfoundland & Labrador. The individual would support the execution of Capital projects for electrical utility assets throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The position will work within the Civil Engineering group to help execute projects within utility projects throughout the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The work for this position will include performing all aspects of project design from the conceptual stage and prefeasibility studies through to final design. The successful candidate will prepare budget estimates, work orders, material and equipment orders and contract documents. Work will also include evaluation and recommendation for contract awards and performance of construction management duties for assigned projects. In addition to ongoing capital projects, the successful candidate will review and support the development of capital budget applications, while coordinating with a multi-discipline team to perform estimates and develop the technical justification for proposed work for the Client’s regulated infrastructure. Experience in civil engineering design and construction/refurbishment of building envelopes, fuel storage facilities, steel structures, road infrastructure and/or concrete structures would be an asset.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Graduation from a recognized university with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Civil) with a minimum of 5 years experience since graduation;
- Membership in the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) as a professional engineer;
- Willingness to travel approximately 4-6 weeks a year;
- Proven and demonstrated communication skills;
- Ability to thrive as a participant within a multi-discipline team of both internal and external resources;
- Relevant experience in design, implementation and troubleshooting;
- Experience in developing and managing engineering consultant contracts;
- Experience in developing and managing construction contracts;
- Experience in engineering project estimates;
Location: Client’s head office at Hydro Place, at 500 Columbus Drive in St. John’s, NL. Travel to various work sites may be periodically required.
Anticipated Start Date: July 27, 2026
Anticipated End Date: July 23, 2027 with the option to extend annually for four (4) years
Hours: Normal working hours for this work scope are 37.5 hours per week.
