The Role
We are looking for a recently qualified CPA who is passionate about the SME space. This isn't a role where you’ll be buried in a single department of a massive corporation. Instead, you will have a seat at the table, managing a diverse portfolio of clients, overseeing their corporate year-ends, and ensuring their combined personal and corporate tax strategies are optimized. At the end of the day our practice is tax driven, therefore experience with, or desire to develop strong tax planning skills will be paramount for future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- SME Advisory: Lead the preparation and review of financial statements for small to mid-sized enterprises (Notice to Reader/Compilations).
- Corporate Tax: Prepare and file corporate tax returns (T2), ensuring compliance and identifying planning opportunities.
- Personal Tax Leadership: Manage the preparation and/or review of personal tax returns (T1) for business owners and high-net-worth individuals.
- Client Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, answering day-to-day accounting questions and providing proactive tax advice.
- Workflow Integration: Assist in the transition of clients to cloud accounting platforms (e.g., QBO, Xero) and optimize their internal bookkeeping processes.
Qualifications & Skills
- CPA Designation: Recently qualified (0–3 years post-designation experience).
- SME Expertise: Proven experience working within a public practice firm specifically serving small to mid-sized businesses.
- Tax Proficiency: Strong technical knowledge of both corporate and personal tax regulations. Interest in completing CPA Canada In-depth Tax;
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Caseware, TaxCycle/TaxPrep/Profile, QuickBooks Online, Xero, SAGE.
- The "Human" Factor: Excellent communication skills. You can explain a balance sheet and income statement to a business owner without using confusing jargon.

Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
