Job Summary
Join our dynamic mental health team as a Child and Youth Mental Health Counsellor, where you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of children and adolescents. Duties
- Conduct assessments to identify the mental health needs of children and youth, developing personalized treatment plans.
- Provide individual, group, and family counselling sessions utilizing various therapeutic modalities, including art therapy when appropriate.
- Awareness in psychopharmacology to support medication management.
- Offer targeted counselling on gender issues, supporting young clients navigating gender identity and related concerns with sensitivity and expertise.
- Facilitate therapeutic activities that encourage self-expression, emotional regulation, and social skills development.
- Maintain detailed documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and session notes in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, educators, and caregivers to ensure holistic support for each client’s mental health journey.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counselling or a related field from an accredited institution.
- 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven experience working with children and adolescents in clinical or community settings.
- Familiarity with psychopharmacology principles relevant to child and youth populations.
- Ability to address gender issues sensitively and effectively within therapeutic contexts.
