We are seeking a reliable and experienced Material Handler with experience in manufacturing to join us in our fast-paced, team oriented work environment.
Overview
This role is key on our panel line where plywood and OSB are coated before shipping. This position is responsible for operating a forklift, completing daily forklift inspections, confirming the correct number of lifts and board count per work order, stenciling each lift with the proper description, edge coating product as required, strapping and packaging finished lifts securely, and completing final quality checks to help ensure product accuracy, appearance, and safety before it leaves the building.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift safely and efficiently as a major part of the role.
- Complete daily pre-use forklift inspections and report any mechanical, safety, or operating concerns immediately.
- Move, stage, and position plywood and OSB lifts within production and staging areas.
- Confirm the correct number of lifts and board count per work order before processing or release.
- Stencil each lift with the proper description or product information according to the work order.
- Edge coat lifts to specification using approved materials and methods.
- Strap and package finished lifts securely and accurately in accordance with production and shipping requirements.
- Inspect finished product for visible defects, coating issues, damage, incorrect identification, or quantity discrepancies.
- Perform final visual quality checks to help ensure outgoing product meets company and customer requirements.
- Report quality issues, safety concerns, damaged material, or work-order discrepancies to the supervisor or line lead immediately.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas around the panel line and staging areas.
- Follow all company safety procedures, operating standards, PPE requirements, and equipment policies.
- Support production flow by working closely with line personnel, supervisors, and shipping staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Forklift experience is required.
- Valid forklift certification is an asset or may be required based on company policy.
- Experience in manufacturing, lumber, panel processing, coating, or industrial production is preferred.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, product descriptions, tags, and production instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail with a clear focus on product quality, correct identification, and outbound accuracy.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced production environment while handling multiple priorities.
- Strong communication, reliability, and teamwork skills are required.
- Lumber, plywood, or OSB product knowledge is an asset.
- Willingness to learn and cross-train in additional production and material handling duties.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical fitness test is required.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a production plant environment with regular forklift traffic, material handling, and repetitive production tasks.
- Position may require standing, walking, bending, lifting, twisting, and repetitive hand work throughout the shift.
- Half-mask respirator required during stencilling
- This is a physically demanding role requiring safe material handling, consistent attention to detail, and a strong commitment to both quality and safety.
Pay: $23.50-$25.00 per hour
