Summary
The Production Manager oversees all daily production operations at the processing plant, ensuring compliance with company guidelines, policies, and procedures. This role develops and maintains processes that maximize safety, quality, yields, and productivity — while building a culture of accountability and team development. Our customers are at the center of everything we do, and this role is key to meeting their expectations without compromising on safety, quality, or compliance.
Key Objectives
- Ensure the safety of all personnel in the facility
- Maintain quality control and food safety program compliance
- Achieve operational and cost KPIs
- Manage yield without compromising quality
- Hit on-time delivery and fill rate targets
- Achieve annual and strategic business plan targets
- Manage the Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Lead performance management for all production employees
What You'll Do
Leadership
- Lead with honesty, integrity, and trust
- Set team goals and objectives, and oversee production supervisors in meeting them
- Maintain discipline and positive employee relations across unionized staff
- Promote a team atmosphere with ongoing employee communication
- Guide the team toward zero lost-time and medical-aid incidents
Production Planning
- Plan weekly manpower requirements to meet customer demand
- Maintain the overall production plan, minimizing unnecessary changeovers
- Liaise with HR on staffing levels and with sales on production requirements
Customer Focus
- Ensure products ship to the appropriate specifications
- Maintain and update product specs alongside sales and customer requests
- Participate in product development, innovation, and line engineering
- Support integration of third-party volume into the facility
Operational Results
- Manage labor costs to budget targets
- Manage product yields without compromising quality
- Develop a succession plan for operations
- Approve employee supplies, including laundry
Compliance
- Enforce HACCP and food safety regulations
- Maintain a safe working environment for employees and contractors
- Comply with WorkSafeBC, Occupational Health and Safety regulations, and BRC standards
- Ensure adherence to company policies and SOPs
- Establish and maintain 5S practices in the facility
- Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring
- Post-secondary education
- 5+ years of experience in the meat processing industry
- Demonstrated success as both an individual contributor and team member
- Proficiency with MS Office
- Strong rapport-building and communication skills
- Demonstrated team development skills and employee follow-ship
- Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) new trends and automation in the meat industry
- Critical-thinking, organizational planning, and analytical problem-solving skills
Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
