Position Overview
The Manager of Finance provides leadership and oversight for the organization’s financial management, payroll administration, organizational operations, and operational infrastructure. This role ensures accurate payroll processing, sound financial reporting and regulatory compliance, and the efficient administration of organizational systems.
Working closely with the Executive Director, Board Treasurer, and management team, the position supports financial stewardship, operational decision-making, and the effective implementation of strategic initiatives that strengthen organizational sustainability.
This role functions as the organization’s primary administrator for payroll, financial administration, and operational systems.
Part Time Position – 21 to 25 hrs per week
Wage - $33 - $37 per hour

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
Full-Cycle Bookkeeping & Payroll
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations, and payroll administration.
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including tracking employee hours, accruals, and ensuring accurate and timely payroll payments.
- Maintain and reconcile payroll records while ensuring compliance with all applicable payroll legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor payroll accruals, benefits deductions, and payroll liabilities.
- Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Oversee the organization’s relationship with payroll service providers (ADP WorkForceNow).
- Stay current on payroll legislation, tax regulations, and industry best practices.
- Prepare year-end payroll reporting including T4 preparation and reconciliation of payroll accounts.
- Record and journalize all bookkeeping and payroll transactions while maintaining accurate financial records.
- Support financial audits and ensure adherence to internal financial controls.
- Develop and refine payroll policies and administrative processes to improve operational efficiency and compliance.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, updates, and coordination with benefits providers.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Prepare year-end financial documentation and reports for the external accountant.
- Manage regulatory reporting requirements including CRA payroll remittances, GST filings, and other government reporting obligations.
- Administer charitable tax receipting in accordance with CRA regulations, ensuring accurate issuance, record management, and reconciliation of donor receipts.
- Administer WorkSafeBC reporting and compliance requirements.
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Board Treasurer to support financial oversight and fiscal planning.
- Ensure financial controls align with grant funding requirements, including accurate tracking of restricted funds and adherence to approved budgets.
- Complete all required grant financial reporting and assist in preparing documents for grant budget applications and renewals.
