Join Our Team! Legal Assistant at a Boutique Law Firm
Are you someone who enjoys helping people and being part of a supportive team? Do you like variety in your day and take pride in a typo-free document? We’re looking for someone with personality, professionalism and a collaborative mindset who will fit in well with our small and collegial team.
About Us:
We’re a boutique law firm focused on business law, estate planning and intellectual property. We take pride in building strong relationships with our clients and offering personalized, practical legal solutions. Our office is professional but down-to-earth – we believe in working hard, supporting one another, and keeping things friendly and approachable.
About the Role:
As a Legal Assistant, you’ll work closely with our lawyers and team members to support clients in the areas of wills and estates, real estate and corporate law. We’re looking for someone who is organized, motivated and eager to learn. Someone who can take direction but also isn’t afraid to take initiative and jump in where needed.
The right person for this role notices the extra space in a document, cringes at a typo, and takes pride in their work. They enjoy keeping multiple moving pieces on track, can juggle competing deadlines without losing their cool, and genuinely likes getting tasks across the finish line.
Key Responsibilities:
- General administrative and clerical tasks, including answering phones, filing, photocopying, scanning, reporting and billing
- Drafting, editing, and formatting a variety of legal documents
- Performing and reviewing legal searches
- Communicating with clients, financial institutions, realtors and other professionals
- Scheduling appointments and managing calendars
- Opening, maintaining and closing client files
- Providing general administrative and clerical support to the team
Full-time, hourly position – Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
What We’re Looking For:
- 18+ years’ experience being a good human
- A friendly, positive attitude and a good sense of humour
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and excellent communication
- Professionalism and discretion when dealing with clients and sensitive information
- Proficiency using common office software (Outlook, Word, Adobe)
- Prior experience in a law firm is a plus but not required – we’re happy to train the right person!
Why Work With Us?
Client-Focused Values – We care about our clients and each other. You’ll be part of a team that genuinely enjoys helping people succeed.
Professional, But Down-to-Earth – We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Expect professionalism, but without the suits and egos.
Make an Impact – As a small firm, every team member plays an important role. Your ideas, input, and effort are invaluable.
How to Apply:
Please read the job description carefully. If the role sounds like the right fit for you, we’d love to hear from you! Please send your resume and cover letter in confidence to [email protected].
Your cover letter should tell us a little about who you are and why this role interests you. No need for a stiff or overly formal cover letter – we’d much rather get a sense of your personality and what you’d bring to the team.
