Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant with a minimum of two years of experience in criminal and family law. Duties
- Assist lawyer (s) with case management, including organizing and maintaining case files using iManage document management system
- Prepare, proofread, and review legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, and correspondence with meticulous attention to detail
- Conduct legal research using LexisNexis and other resources to support case development and strategy
- Manage data entry tasks accurately to ensure all case information is current and accessible
- Schedule appointments, interviews, and court dates while coordinating communication between clients, courts, and other parties
- Perform clerical duties including filing, photocopying, scanning, and maintaining organized physical and digital records
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when communicating with clients, witnesses, courts, and vendors
Skills
- Proven experience in criminal and family law supporting roles with at least two years of relevant work experience
- Strong proofreading skills to ensure accuracy in all legal documents and correspondence
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as LexisNexis for case law and statutory research
- Effective project management skills to handle multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Excellent interviewing skills for client intake and witness interviews
- Familiarity with iManage document management system and general administrative software
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting legal documents, summaries, and reports
- Attention to detail in data entry, filing systems, and clerical tasks to maintain high standards of accuracy
- Knowledge of court procedures, filing requirements, and legal protocols
- Strong phone etiquette combined with professional communication skills
