Job Summary
Staff will support adults aged 19+ by providing individualized opportunities to strengthen life skills, build healthy relationships within the community, and pursue meaningful employment and personal goals. The role focuses on creating a welcoming, warm, and inclusive environment at Satori, where individuals feel respected, supported, and valued.
Staff will assist individuals to participate in activities of their choice, which may include NIC programs, recreation centre activities, swimming, employment, social outings, and other community-based experiences. In addition to skill development and community inclusion, staff are required to provide an appropriate level of personal care with compassion, dignity, and respect, based on individual needs.
Role Structure: This position includes a combination of group-based and one-to-one Community Support Worker (CSW) responsibilities:
- Wednesday & Thursday (9:00am – 3:00pm):
- Staff will work in a group support role, facilitating community inclusion opportunities with more independent participants. This includes supporting social engagement, skill-building, and participation in community activities in a global/group setting.
- Monday, Tuesday, and Friday (9:00am – 5:00pm):
Staff will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a young adult who requires full-time individualized assistance.1:1 Support Responsibilities
In the 1:1 portion of the role, staff will:
- Provide consistent, attentive support to an individual who benefits from structure, guidance, and ongoing engagement throughout the day
- Support community outings such as visits to local water parks, beaches/sand play, and other preferred recreational activities
- Transport the individual from their home at the start of the day and return them safely, including transporting and managing a wheelchair for longer outings
- Assist with all aspects of daily living, including eating and personal care, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
- Build a strong, positive relationship using patience, creativity, and a sense of humor
This individual communicates non-verbally and engages with the world in a joyful, playful, and sensory-focused way. They thrive with staff who are comfortable being lighthearted, animated, and flexible in their approach. A key aspect of success in this role is the ability to use humor, warmth, and playful interaction to build trust, provide redirection, and create meaningful engagement.
The individual is physically strong and active, requiring staff who are confident, attentive, and able to provide appropriate guidance and support to ensure safety and well-being in all environments.

- Maintain relationships of trust, security and unconditional support and implement behavior programming focused on teaching effective skills to participants that promotes greater personal autonomy and richer life options.
- Understand that everyone communicates differently and is committed to using an augmentative communication approach to support participants in their self-expression. This includes supporting and developing the use of sign language, gesture, Pic-Symbol boards and other communication devices when required or requested.
- Ensure community inclusion is a focus of each participant’s day.
