Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial and industrial construction projects, analyzing project plans and specifications, and supporting the bid process from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project plans, specifications, and tender documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labour, and equipment.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Prepare bid proposals and tender submissions within deadlines.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, quotes, and project data.
- Collaborate with project managers and site teams during pre-construction planning.
- Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and requirements.
- Identify potential risks and value engineering opportunities.
- Stay current with material costs, market trends, and construction methods.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in construction estimating (commercial/industrial preferred).
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Experience with pre-engineered metal buildings is a strong asset.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Valid driver's licence required.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
